BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE

The late Professor Wangari Maathai is quoted as saying, "if you destroy the forest then the river will stop flowing, the rains will become irregular, the crops will fail and you will die of hunger and starvation". In decades past, thanks to bad governmental policies and ill advised communities, our tree cover has dwindling to less that 3% since independence.

It is no secret that environmental degradation can lead to political turmoil and culture clashes. There is already a scramble for what is deemed "good' land. Those of us at EcoVillage Project Kenya believe there is a lot of potential in the arid and semi-arid areas of Kenya.
With a green minded view, we believe the use of the agricultural techniques of permaculture coupled with sustainable and efficient designs could turn an unproductive piece of land into one that will produce for decades to come.

The key is to have a team willing to see the greener possibilities and realise a choice of living that can be repeated through the country.
Integrating the lost techniques with what we know for sure works in arid lands across the world. And while we regenerate what was once there, we create a living space where the inhabitants can live in harmony with the environment.
An ecovillage is an intentional community with the goal of being economically, socially and ecologically sustainable through decades. Driven by the absurd rising value of 'good" land and the effects of climate change, EcoVillage Project Kenya aims to create a country home for those seeking an alternative to the expensive choices that lack the sustainability in a country that is losing the battle in Climate Change.

EcoVillage Project Kenya envisions a community with an intentionally planted forest; housing built of locally available sustainable material; energy efficient source of energy; locally grown organic food; conservation water systems and waste management recycling processes. This project will not only be a living space and a permaculture farm, it has the potential to be an ecotourism lodge; an agritourism site; voluntourism site; health spa and so much more.

Folks, change is good!
